Empowering mental health through sport in the Solomon Islands
Bounce Back Project
ABOUT BOUNCE BACK
Bounce Back is a youth-led mental health project in the Solomon Islands using sport to empower young people. Through basketball, rugby, netball, and soccer, we promote resilience, raise awareness, and build peer support for youth aged 18–35.
OUR STORY
The Bounce Back Project officially started on April 1, 2025, in Honiara, Solomon Islands, in response to the growing number of young individuals silently struggling with mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, and psychosis. As youth ourselves, we saw how many of our peers were going through difficult times without support, and how mental health conversations were still heavily stigmatized.
We realized that sports could be more than just games, they could be powerful tools for connection, expression, and healing. So we came together to launch a nonprofit that combines physical activity with safe, open conversations about mental well-being.
Mission
